Doctor and Patient Dialogue for Class 6, 7, 8, SSC, HSC
A dialogue between doctor and patient is one of the most common topics in English second paper examinations for class 6, 7, 8, 9, SSC, and HSC students in Bangladesh. Examiners love this topic because it tests how well a student can write a natural, real-life conversation in English. A doctor and patient dialogue usually starts with a greeting, then the patient describes the problem, the doctor asks questions and gives advice or a prescription, and finally the dialogue ends with thanks. In this post, you will find four complete dialogues — for class 6-7, class 8-9, SSC, and HSC — each written at the right level for that class. Every dialogue comes with a line-by-line বঙ্গানুবাদ (Bangla meaning) under each English line, so you can learn the vocabulary while you read. You will also find a word-meaning table, practical dialogue-writing tips, and answers to the most common questions students ask about this topic.

Doctor and Patient Dialogue with Bangla Meaning for Students
In most Bangladeshi school exams, a dialogue writing question carries 5 to 10 marks. A "dialogue between doctor and patient" is popular because the situation is easy to imagine: anyone can picture a doctor's chamber and a sick patient. The examiner checks three things — natural flow of conversation (one line must connect with the previous line), correct grammar and spelling, and a proper ending. The four dialogues below show you exactly how to write one at each level.
Dialogue Between Doctor and Patient for Class 6-7
This version uses very short and simple sentences. It is about a student who has a cold. Each English line is followed by its Bangla meaning on the next line.
Patient (Rahim): Good morning, doctor. May I come in?
রোগী (রহিম): শুভ সকাল, ডাক্তার। আমি কি ভেতরে আসতে পারি?
Doctor: Good morning. Yes, come in and sit down, please.
ডাক্তার: শুভ সকাল। হ্যাঁ, ভেতরে এসে বসুন।
Patient: Thank you, doctor.
রোগী: ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: Tell me, what is your problem?
ডাক্তার: বলুন তো, আপনার সমস্যা কী?
Patient: Doctor, I have a cold and a cough.
রোগী: ডাক্তার, আমার সর্দি ও কাশি হয়েছে।
Doctor: How long have you been suffering from it?
ডাক্তার: কতদিন ধরে এতে ভুগছেন?
Patient: For three days, doctor.
রোগী: তিন দিন ধরে, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: Do you have a fever?
ডাক্তার: আপনার কি জ্বর আছে?
Patient: No, doctor. Only cold and cough.
রোগী: না, ডাক্তার। শুধু সর্দি ও কাশি।
Doctor: Let me check your throat. Open your mouth, please.
ডাক্তার: আপনার গলা দেখি। দয়া করে মুখ খুলুন।
Patient: Yes, doctor.
রোগী: জি, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: There is no serious problem. It is just a common cold (a mild illness of the nose and throat).
ডাক্তার: কোনো গুরুতর সমস্যা নেই। এটি শুধু সাধারণ সর্দি (নাক ও গলার হালকা অসুখ)।
Patient: What should I do, doctor?
রোগী: আমার কী করা উচিত, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: You should drink warm water and take this medicine twice a day (two times daily).
ডাক্তার: আপনার গরম পানি খাওয়া উচিত এবং এই ওষুধটি দিনে দুবার করে খাবেন।
Patient: How many days should I take the medicine?
রোগী: কত দিন ওষুধ খাব?
Doctor: For three days. You should also take complete rest.
ডাক্তার: তিন দিন। আপনার পুরো বিশ্রাম নেওয়া উচিত।
Patient: Thank you, doctor. How much is your fee?
রোগী: ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার। আপনার ফি কত?
Doctor: Two hundred taka only.
ডাক্তার: মাত্র দুইশত টাকা।
Patient: Here it is. Goodbye, doctor.
রোগী: এই নিন। বিদায়, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: Goodbye. Get well soon.
ডাক্তার: বিদায়। তাড়াতাড়ি সুস্থ হয়ে উঠুন।
Dialogue Between Doctor and Patient for Class 8-9
This medium-length dialogue is about a patient with dengue-like fever (a fever caused by a mosquito bite, common in Bangladesh). The sentences are slightly longer, with more medical words. Line-by-line বঙ্গানুবাদ is given under every line.
Patient (Kamal): Good afternoon, doctor. May I come in, please?
রোগী (কামাল): শুভ অপরাহ্ন, ডাক্তার। আমি কি ভেতরে আসতে পারি?
Doctor: Good afternoon. Yes, please come in and have a seat.
ডাক্তার: শুভ অপরাহ্ন। হ্যাঁ, ভেতরে আসুন এবং বসুন।
Patient: Thank you, doctor.
রোগী: ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: What seems to be the problem? (What is wrong with you?)
ডাক্তার: সমস্যাটা কী মনে হচ্ছে? (আপনার কী সমস্যা হয়েছে?)
Patient: Doctor, I have had a high fever for two days. My whole body is aching.
রোগী: ডাক্তার, দুই দিন ধরে আমার খুব জ্বর। আমার পুরো শরীরে ব্যথা করছে।
Doctor: Hmm. Do you have any headache or pain behind the eyes?
ডাক্তার: হুম। আপনার কি মাথাব্যথা আছে বা চোখের পেছনে ব্যথা আছে?
Patient: Yes, doctor. I have a headache, and my eyes hurt when I move them.
রোগী: হ্যাঁ, ডাক্তার। আমার মাথাব্যথা আছে, এবং চোখ নড়ালে চোখে ব্যথা লাগে।
Doctor: Let me check your temperature and blood pressure (the force of blood flowing in your body).
ডাক্তার: আপনার তাপমাত্রা ও রক্তচাপ দেখি (শরীরে রক্ত চলাচলের চাপ)।
Patient: Yes, doctor. Please check.
রোগী: জি, ডাক্তার। দেখুন।
Doctor: Your temperature is 103°F. That is quite high. Have you taken any medicine?
ডাক্তার: আপনার তাপমাত্রা ১০৩ ডিগ্রি ফারেনহাইট। এটা বেশ বেশি। আপনি কি কোনো ওষুধ খেয়েছেন?
Patient: Only paracetamol, doctor. But the fever came back again last night.
রোগী: শুধু প্যারাসিটামল খেয়েছি, ডাক্তার। কিন্তু গতরাতে আবার জ্বর এসেছে।
Doctor: These symptoms look like dengue (a fever caused by mosquito bites). You must do a blood test today.
ডাক্তার: এই লক্ষণগুলো ডেঙ্গুর মতো মনে হচ্ছে (মশার কামড়ে হওয়া জ্বর)। আজই আপনার রক্ত পরীক্ষা করা দরকার।
Patient: Is it serious, doctor?
রোগী: এটা কি গুরুতর, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: Do not worry. Most dengue cases get better with proper care. But we must confirm it with the test.
ডাক্তার: চিন্তা করবেন না। বেশিরভাগ ডেঙ্গু রোগী ঠিকমতো যত্ন পেলে সুস্থ হয়ে যায়। তবে পরীক্ষা করে নিশ্চিত হতে হবে।
Patient: What should I do now, doctor?
রোগী: এখন আমার কী করা উচিত, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: Drink plenty of water, fruit juice, and oral saline (a mixture of salt, sugar, and water that gives the body energy). Take complete bed rest.
ডাক্তার: প্রচুর পানি, ফলের রস এবং ওরাল স্যালাইন খান (লবণ, চিনি ও পানির মিশ্রণ যা শরীরে শক্তি দেয়)। সম্পূর্ণ বিছানায় বিশ্রাম নিন।
Doctor: Avoid painkillers other than paracetamol. I am writing a prescription (a doctor's written order for medicine) for you.
ডাক্তার: প্যারাসিটামল ছাড়া অন্য ব্যথার ওষুধ এড়িয়ে চলুন। আমি আপনার জন্য একটি প্রেসক্রিপশন (ওষুধের জন্য ডাক্তারের লিখিত নির্দেশ) লিখে দিচ্ছি।
Patient: Doctor, can I go to school tomorrow?
রোগী: ডাক্তার, আমি কি আগামীকাল স্কুলে যেতে পারব?
Doctor: No, not until the fever is fully gone. You should stay home for at least a week.
ডাক্তার: না, জ্বর পুরোপুরি না কমা পর্যন্ত নয়। আপনার কমপক্ষে এক সপ্তাহ বাসায় থাকা উচিত।
Patient: Thank you for your advice, doctor. When should I come again?
রোগী: আপনার পরামর্শের জন্য ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার। আমি কবে আবার আসব?
Doctor: Come back after three days with the blood test report.
ডাক্তার: তিন দিন পর রক্ত পরীক্ষার রিপোর্ট নিয়ে আবার আসুন।
Patient: I will. Goodbye, doctor.
রোগী: আসব। বিদায়, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: Goodbye. Take care and get well soon.
ডাক্তার: বিদায়। নিজের যত্ন নিন এবং তাড়াতাড়ি সুস্থ হয়ে উঠুন।
Dialogue Between Doctor and Patient for SSC
This longer, exam-style dialogue is about a patient with typhoid fever (a serious fever caused by dirty water or food, common in Bangladesh). The doctor explains the treatment, diet, rest, and follow-up. Every line has its বঙ্গানুবাদ below it.
Patient (Nasir): Good morning, doctor. May I come in?
রোগী (নাসির): শুভ সকাল, ডাক্তার। আমি কি ভেতরে আসতে পারি?
Doctor: Good morning. Yes, come in and sit down.
ডাক্তার: শুভ সকাল। হ্যাঁ, ভেতরে এসে বসুন।
Patient: Thank you, doctor.
রোগী: ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: How can I help you? What is your problem?
ডাক্তার: আমি কীভাবে সাহায্য করতে পারি? আপনার সমস্যা কী?
Patient: Doctor, I have been suffering from fever for the last ten days. It comes every evening and goes away in the morning.
রোগী: ডাক্তার, গত দশ দিন ধরে আমি জ্বরে ভুগছি। প্রতি সন্ধ্যায় জ্বর আসে এবং সকালে চলে যায়।
Doctor: That is quite a long time. Have you taken any medicine?
ডাক্তার: এটা তো বেশ অনেকদিন। আপনি কি কোনো ওষুধ খেয়েছেন?
Patient: Yes, doctor. I took paracetamol, but it only reduced the fever for a few hours.
রোগী: হ্যাঁ, ডাক্তার। প্যারাসিটামল খেয়েছি, কিন্তু তা মাত্র কয়েক ঘণ্টার জন্য জ্বর কমিয়েছে।
Doctor: Do you have any other symptoms — headache, stomach pain, or loss of appetite (not feeling hungry)?
ডাক্তার: আপনার কি অন্য কোনো লক্ষণ আছে — মাথাব্যথা, পেটব্যথা, বা ক্ষুধামান্দ্য (ক্ষুধা না লাগা)?
Patient: Yes, doctor. I have no appetite at all, and I feel very weak. I also have a slight headache.
রোগী: হ্যাঁ, ডাক্তার। আমার একদমই ক্ষুধা লাগে না, এবং খুব দুর্বল লাগে। হালকা মাথাব্যথাও আছে।
Doctor: Let me examine you. Open your mouth... Your tongue is coated (covered with a white layer), and your temperature is 101°F. Did you drink unsafe water or eat outside food recently?
ডাক্তার: আপনাকে পরীক্ষা করি। মুখ খুলুন... আপনার জিহ্বায় প্রলেপ পড়েছে (সাদা আস্তরণ), এবং তাপমাত্রা ১০১ ডিগ্রি। আপনি কি সম্প্রতি অনিরাপদ পানি খেয়েছেন বা বাইরের খাবার খেয়েছেন?
Patient: Yes, doctor. Last month I drank water from a roadside shop during a school trip.
রোগী: হ্যাঁ, ডাক্তার। গত মাসে স্কুল ট্যুরে রাস্তার ধারের দোকান থেকে পানি খেয়েছিলাম।
Doctor: That explains it. Your symptoms point to typhoid (a serious fever caused by germs in dirty water or food). You need a blood test to confirm it.
ডাক্তার: তাহলে তো বোঝা গেল। আপনার লক্ষণগুলো টাইফয়েডের দিকে ইঙ্গিত করছে (নোংরা পানি বা খাবারের জীবাণু থেকে হওয়া গুরুতর জ্বর)। নিশ্চিত হওয়ার জন্য রক্ত পরীক্ষা দরকার।
Patient: Is typhoid dangerous, doctor?
রোগী: টাইফয়েড কি বিপজ্জনক, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: It can be, if not treated properly. But with the right medicine and care, you will recover fully in two to three weeks.
ডাক্তার: ঠিকমতো চিকিৎসা না হলে হতে পারে। তবে সঠিক ওষুধ ও যত্নে দুই থেকে তিন সপ্তাহে আপনি পুরোপুরি সুস্থ হয়ে যাবেন।
Patient: What medicine should I take, doctor?
রোগী: আমার কোন ওষুধ খাওয়া উচিত, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: I am prescribing an antibiotic (a medicine that kills germs inside the body). Take it for fourteen days without missing a single dose (one time's medicine).
ডাক্তার: আমি একটি অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক (শরীরের ভেতরের জীবাণু মারা ওষুধ) দিচ্ছি। একটিও ডোজ (একবারের ওষুধ) বাদ না দিয়ে চৌদ্দ দিন খাবেন।
Doctor: Never stop the medicine early, even if you feel better. Stopping early can make the illness come back.
ডাক্তার: ভালো লাগলেও ওষুধ আগে বন্ধ করবেন না। আগে বন্ধ করলে অসুখ আবার ফিরে আসতে পারে।
Patient: What about food, doctor? What should I eat?
রোগী: খাবারের ব্যাপারে কী, ডাক্তার? আমি কী খাব?
Doctor: Eat light and easily digestible food — rice with boiled vegetables, soup, and fruit juice. Avoid oily, spicy, and outside food completely.
ডাক্তার: হালকা ও সহজপাচ্য খাবার খান — সেদ্ধ সবজি দিয়ে ভাত, স্যুপ, এবং ফলের রস। তেলযুক্ত, ঝাল ও বাইরের খাবার সম্পূর্ণ এড়িয়ে চলুন।
Doctor: Drink only boiled or purified water. This is very important for your recovery (getting well again).
ডাক্তার: শুধু ফোটানো বা বিশুদ্ধ পানি পান করুন। আপনার সুস্থ হওয়ার (আবার ভালো হয়ে ওঠা) জন্য এটা খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
Patient: Should I take rest, doctor?
রোগী: আমার কি বিশ্রাম নেওয়া উচিত, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: Yes, complete bed rest for at least ten days. Do not go to school until I say you are fit.
ডাক্তার: হ্যাঁ, কমপক্ষে দশ দিন সম্পূর্ণ বিছানায় বিশ্রাম। আমি সুস্থ না বলা পর্যন্ত স্কুলে যাবেন না।
Patient: When should I come for a follow-up visit (coming back to the doctor to check progress)?
রোগী: ফলো-আপ ভিজিটের (অগ্রগতি দেখতে ডাক্তারের কাছে আবার আসা) জন্য কবে আসব?
Doctor: Come back after seven days with the blood test report. If the fever rises above 104°F or you vomit, come immediately.
ডাক্তার: সাত দিন পর রক্ত পরীক্ষার রিপোর্ট নিয়ে আসুন। জ্বর ১০৪ ডিগ্রির ওপরে উঠলে বা বমি হলে সাথে সাথে আসুন।
Patient: Thank you very much, doctor. I will follow all your advice.
রোগী: আপনাকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার। আমি আপনার সব পরামর্শ মেনে চলব।
Doctor: You are welcome. Take care, and I hope you get well soon.
ডাক্তার: স্বাগতম। যত্ন নিন, আশা করি তাড়াতাড়ি সুস্থ হয়ে উঠবেন।
Dialogue Between Doctor and Patient for HSC
This is the most detailed version, suitable for HSC level. The patient has a stomach problem with flu-like symptoms. The doctor discusses symptoms in depth, makes a diagnosis, writes a prescription, and gives clear precautions with do's and don'ts. Line-by-line বঙ্গানুবাদ follows every line.
Patient (Mr. Hasan): Good evening, doctor. May I come in?
রোগী (মি. হাসান): শুভ সন্ধ্যা, ডাক্তার। আমি কি ভেতরে আসতে পারি?
Doctor: Good evening. Yes, please come in and take your seat.
ডাক্তার: শুভ সন্ধ্যা। হ্যাঁ, ভেতরে আসুন এবং বসুন।
Patient: Thank you, doctor.
রোগী: ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: Tell me in detail, what troubles you?
ডাক্তার: বিস্তারিত বলুন, আপনার কী কষ্ট হচ্ছে?
Patient: Doctor, for the last five days I have been suffering from severe stomach pain, loose motion (passing watery stool frequently), and nausea (feeling like vomiting).
রোগী: ডাক্তার, গত পাঁচ দিন ধরে আমি প্রচণ্ড পেটব্যথা, পাতলা পায়খানা (বারবার পানির মতো মল ত্যাগ), এবং বমি বমি ভাবে (বমি আসার মতো অনুভূতি) ভুগছি।
Doctor: I see. How many times a day do you pass stool?
ডাক্তার: বুঝলাম। দিনে কতবার পায়খানা হয়?
Patient: About six to seven times a day, doctor. I feel exhausted (extremely tired) after each time.
রোগী: দিনে প্রায় ছয়-সাতবার, ডাক্তার। প্রতিবার পর আমি খুব ক্লান্ত (অত্যন্ত দুর্বল) বোধ করি।
Doctor: Are you drinking enough water? Dehydration (losing too much water from the body) is the biggest danger in such cases.
ডাক্তার: আপনি কি পর্যাপ্ত পানি খাচ্ছেন? এরকম ক্ষেত্রে ডিহাইড্রেশন (শরীর থেকে অতিরিক্ত পানি বেরিয়ে যাওয়া) সবচেয়ে বড় বিপদ।
Patient: I try, doctor, but water makes me feel like vomiting.
রোগী: চেষ্টা করি, ডাক্তার, কিন্তু পানি খেলেই বমি বমি লাগে।
Doctor: Then take oral saline in small sips (drinking little by little), again and again. That will replace the lost water and salt in your body.
ডাক্তার: তাহলে বারবার অল্প অল্প চুমুকে (একটু একটু করে পান করে) ওরাল স্যালাইন খান। এতে শরীর থেকে বেরিয়ে যাওয়া পানি ও লবণের ঘাটতি পূরণ হবে।
Doctor: Let me examine your abdomen (the front part of the body below the chest). Lie down on the bed, please.
ডাক্তার: আপনার পেট (বুকের নিচে শরীরের সামনের অংশ) পরীক্ষা করি। দয়া করে বিছানায় শুয়ে পড়ুন।
Patient: Yes, doctor.
রোগী: জি, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: Your abdomen is tender (painful when touched) in the lower part. Did you eat anything unusual before the problem started?
ডাক্তার: আপনার পেটের নিচের অংশে চাপ দিলে ব্যথা লাগছে (স্পর্শে ব্যথাযুক্ত)। সমস্যা শুরুর আগে কি অস্বাভাবিক কিছু খেয়েছিলেন?
Patient: Yes, doctor. I attended a wedding feast four days ago. I ate a lot of rich food — biriyani, roast, and borhani.
রোগী: হ্যাঁ, ডাক্তার। চার দিন আগে একটি বিয়ের দাওয়াতে গিয়েছিলাম। অনেক ভারী খাবার খেয়েছিলাম — বিরিয়ানি, রোস্ট, আর বোরহানি।
Doctor: That is most likely the cause. You are suffering from acute gastroenteritis (a sudden infection of the stomach and intestines that causes pain and loose motion).
ডাক্তার: এটাই সম্ভবত কারণ। আপনি অ্যাকিউট গ্যাস্ট্রোএন্টারাইটিসে (পাকস্থলী ও অন্ত্রের হঠাৎ সংক্রমণ, যা ব্যথা ও পাতলা পায়খানার কারণ) ভুগছেন।
Patient: Oh no! Is it very serious, doctor?
রোগী: ওহ না! এটা কি খুব গুরুতর, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: It is common and treatable, but you must follow my instructions carefully. Carelessness can make it worse.
ডাক্তার: এটা সাধারণ এবং চিকিৎসাযোগ্য, তবে আমার নির্দেশনা মনোযোগ দিয়ে মানতে হবে। অবহেলা করলে অবস্থা খারাপ হতে পারে।
Doctor: I am writing a prescription for you — an antibiotic, a medicine to stop the loose motion, and one for the nausea. Take them exactly as written.
ডাক্তার: আমি আপনার জন্য প্রেসক্রিপশন লিখে দিচ্ছি — একটি অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক, পাতলা পায়খানা বন্ধের ওষুধ, এবং বমি বমি ভাবের ওষুধ। যেভাবে লেখা আছে ঠিক সেভাবেই খাবেন।
Patient: For how many days, doctor?
রোগী: কত দিন, ডাক্তার?
Doctor: Five days. Complete the full course (take all the medicine for all the days), even if you feel well after two days.
ডাক্তার: পাঁচ দিন। দুই দিন পর ভালো লাগলেও পুরো কোর্স শেষ করুন (সব দিনের সব ওষুধ খান)।
Doctor: Now listen to the precautions (things you must be careful about). Do's: eat khichuri, boiled rice, mashed potato, and ripe banana. Drink boiled water and oral saline.
ডাক্তার: এখন সতর্কতাগুলো (যেসব বিষয়ে সাবধান থাকতে হবে) শুনুন। যা করবেন: খিচুড়ি, সেদ্ধ ভাত, আলু ভর্তা, ও পাকা কলা খান। ফোটানো পানি ও ওরাল স্যালাইন পান করুন।
Doctor: Don'ts: do not eat oily, spicy, or stale food. Do not drink unboiled water. Do not take any medicine without my permission.
ডাক্তার: যা করবেন না: তেলযুক্ত, ঝাল, বা বাসি খাবার খাবেন না। না-ফোটানো পানি পান করবেন না। আমার অনুমতি ছাড়া কোনো ওষুধ খাবেন না।
Patient: Doctor, I have an important office meeting the day after tomorrow. Can I attend it?
রোগী: ডাক্তার, পরশু আমার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অফিস মিটিং আছে। আমি কি তাতে যেতে পারব?
Doctor: I strongly advise against it. Take at least three days of complete rest. Your body needs time to recover.
ডাক্তার: আমি জোর দিয়ে না যাওয়ার পরামর্শ দিচ্ছি। কমপক্ষে তিন দিন সম্পূর্ণ বিশ্রাম নিন। আপনার শরীরের সুস্থ হতে সময় দরকার।
Patient: If the loose motion does not stop, what should I do?
রোগী: পাতলা পায়খানা না থামলে আমি কী করব?
Doctor: Come to me immediately, or go to the nearest hospital. Do not wait and do not try home remedies (home-made treatments) on your own.
ডাক্তার: সাথে সাথে আমার কাছে আসুন, অথবা নিকটস্থ হাসপাতালে যান। অপেক্ষা করবেন না এবং নিজে নিজে ঘরোয়া চিকিৎসা (বাড়িতে বানানো চিকিৎসা) চেষ্টা করবেন না।
Patient: When should I come for the follow-up?
রোগী: ফলো-আপের জন্য কবে আসব?
Doctor: After five days, when the medicine course is finished. Bring this prescription with you.
ডাক্তার: পাঁচ দিন পর, ওষুধের কোর্স শেষ হলে। এই প্রেসক্রিপশনটি সাথে নিয়ে আসবেন।
Patient: Thank you so much, doctor, for your kind advice and patience.
রোগী: আপনার সদয় পরামর্শ ও ধৈর্যের জন্য অনেক ধন্যবাদ, ডাক্তার।
Doctor: It is my duty. Follow the instructions, take rest, and you will be fine. Goodbye.
ডাক্তার: এটা আমার দায়িত্ব। নির্দেশনা মেনে চলুন, বিশ্রাম নিন, আপনি ভালো হয়ে যাবেন। বিদায়।

Dialogue Writing Tips for Exams
A good dialogue between doctor and patient is not just a list of questions and answers — it must read like a real conversation. Follow these practical tips to get full marks.
How to start a dialogue: Begin with a polite greeting and permission to enter. For example: "Good morning, doctor. May I come in?" The doctor replies, "Yes, come in and sit down, please." This opening is natural and earns the examiner's first impression. Never start directly with "I have a fever" — a real patient greets first.
Keep the natural flow: Each line must connect with the line before it. If the doctor asks, "How long have you been suffering from it?" the patient must answer about time — "For three days, doctor." Do not jump to an unrelated topic. Think of the dialogue as a chain: greeting → problem → questions → examination → diagnosis → prescription and advice → thanks and goodbye.
Useful sentence patterns for the doctor: Memorize these ready-made patterns and use them in any doctor-patient dialogue: "What seems to be the problem?", "How long have you been suffering from...?", "Do you have any other symptoms?", "Let me check your... ", "You should take complete rest...", "Drink plenty of water and...", "Avoid oily and spicy food.", "Take this medicine twice a day.", "Come back after three days if the fever does not go."
Useful sentence patterns for the patient: "I have been suffering from... for... days.", "My whole body is aching.", "I feel very weak.", "What should I do, doctor?", "Is it serious, doctor?", "When should I come again?", "Thank you for your kind advice."
How to end a dialogue: Always close politely. The patient thanks the doctor and says goodbye; the doctor wishes a quick recovery. Example: Patient — "Thank you very much, doctor. Goodbye." Doctor — "Goodbye. Get well soon." An abrupt ending without thanks looks incomplete and can cost marks.
Mark-scheme advice: Examiners usually give marks for (1) natural and logical conversation flow, (2) correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, (3) suitable vocabulary for the situation, and (4) a proper beginning and ending. Write 10 to 16 exchanges for SSC and HSC (an exchange = one doctor line + one patient line), and 8 to 10 for junior classes. Write the speakers' names clearly (Doctor: / Patient:) and keep each speaker's line on a new line. Avoid repeating the same sentence pattern again and again — vary your questions and answers.
Common mistakes to avoid: Do not make the doctor give the diagnosis before asking questions — a real doctor asks first, then concludes. Do not use overly difficult medical words you cannot spell correctly. Do not forget the fee or follow-up visit — small realistic details make the dialogue feel real. And never write one long paragraph; a dialogue must look like a conversation on the page.

FAQs
What is a good doctor and patient dialogue for class 6?
A good class 6 dialogue uses very short, simple sentences about a common illness like a cold or fever. Keep 8 to 10 exchanges: greeting, the patient's problem, the doctor's simple questions, basic advice (rest, warm water, medicine), and a polite goodbye. The class 6-7 dialogue in this post is a ready model you can memorize and adapt.
How do I write a dialogue between doctor and patient for class 8?
For class 8, write 10 to 12 exchanges with slightly longer sentences and a few medical words like symptom, temperature, and prescription. Choose an illness students know well, such as dengue fever or stomachache. Follow the natural order: greeting → symptoms → doctor's questions and check-up → diagnosis → advice and medicine → thanks and follow-up. The class 8-9 dengue dialogue above shows the exact structure.
Where can I find a dialogue on doctor and patient with Bangla meaning?
You are reading one right now. All four dialogues in this post — for class 6-7, class 8-9, SSC, and HSC — include a line-by-line বঙ্গানুবাদ under every English line, plus a word-meaning table with Bangla meanings and example sentences, so you can learn vocabulary while preparing for the exam.
What should a doctor and patient dialogue for SSC include?
An SSC-level dialogue should have 12 to 16 exchanges and cover a serious illness like typhoid or viral fever in depth: detailed symptoms, the doctor's examination, a blood test, the diagnosis, a full prescription with dose and duration, diet advice, rest instructions, and a follow-up plan. The examiner expects realistic medical details and correct, varied sentence structures.
How is an HSC-level doctor and patient dialogue different?
An HSC dialogue is the most detailed: 14 to 18 exchanges with richer vocabulary (diagnosis, dehydration, gastroenteritis, precautions), in-depth symptom discussion, a clear prescription with do's and don'ts, and realistic touches like asking about work or school and warning against home remedies. It should read like a genuine consultation, not a memorized script.
How to write a dialogue between doctor and patient in an exam?
Start with a greeting and permission to enter, then let the patient describe the problem. The doctor asks follow-up questions, examines the patient, gives the diagnosis, writes a prescription, and advises on diet, rest, and follow-up. End with thanks and goodbye. Keep each speaker on a new line, connect every line to the previous one, and check grammar and spelling at the end.
How long should a doctor-patient dialogue be for exams?
For class 6-7, 8 to 10 exchanges are enough. For class 8-9, aim for 10 to 12. For SSC and HSC, write 12 to 18 exchanges. Quality matters more than length — a short, natural, error-free dialogue scores higher than a long, disconnected one.
Can I use the same dialogue for different classes?
The basic structure is the same, but adjust the length and vocabulary to your class. A class 6 student should use short simple sentences, while an HSC student must use advanced vocabulary and detailed medical discussion. Examiners notice when a junior student memorizes an HSC-level dialogue word for word, so always adapt the model to your own level.
