📖 Book Fair Dialogue for Class 7
📖 Book Fair Dialogue for Class 8
A book fair dialogue is one of the most repeated items in the Class 6 to HSC English second-paper dialogue-writing section in Bangladesh. Almost every board examination set — whether it is the annual exam of a high school, the SSC, or the HSC — keeps "A dialogue between two friends about visiting a book fair" in its suggestion list, and students are asked to write it in the examination hall within ten to fifteen minutes. The reason is simple: a book fair is something every student has seen or heard about, especially the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela held every February at the Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka. Examiners know that students can write about it from real experience, so they use this topic to judge how naturally a student can carry a conversation, how correctly he can use grammar, and how nicely he can open and close a dialogue.
This post gives you not one but four class-wise book fair dialogues written to match the exact level of each class. The Class 6-7 version uses very simple sentences that a young student can memorise. The Class 8-9 version uses richer vocabulary and describes what the friends saw and bought. The SSC version goes deeper into the importance of book fairs, famous writers, and buying books as gifts. The HSC version is a mature discussion on book fair versus online reading, reading habits, and the cultural role of Ekushey Boi Mela. Every single English line is followed by its line-by-line বঙ্গানুবাদ, so even a weak student can understand the meaning of each sentence. At the end you will find difficult word meanings, practical writing tips, and a FAQ section answering the most common questions students ask about writing this dialogue.

Book Fair Dialogue with Bangla Meaning for Students
A dialogue on a book fair can easily carry 8 to 10 marks in the examination, and the difference between a full-mark script and an average one lies in three things. First, the conversation must flow naturally like two real friends talking — a forced, question-answer style without feelings never impresses an examiner. Second, the grammar and spelling must be correct, because every dialogue carries marks for language accuracy. Third, the dialogue needs a proper greeting at the start and a natural closing at the end, like saying goodbye after the talk. The four dialogues below are written keeping all three points in mind, with the Bangla meaning under each line so that you can learn both the English expressions and their correct meanings together.
Book Fair Dialogue for Class 6-7
Nabil (Myself): Good morning, Fahim! How are you?
আমি (নাবিল): শুভ সকাল, ফাহিম! তুমি কেমন আছো?
Fahim (Friend): Good morning! I am fine, thank you. And you?
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): শুভ সকাল! আমি ভালো আছি, ধন্যবাদ। আর তুমি?
Nabil (Myself): I am fine too. Have you heard about the book fair?
আমি (নাবিল): আমিও ভালো আছি। তুমি কি বইমেলার কথা শুনেছো?
Fahim (Friend): Yes, I have heard about it. Where is it held?
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ, আমি শুনেছি। এটা কোথায় হয়?
Nabil (Myself): It is held at the Bangla Academy. It is called Ekushey Boi Mela.
আমি (নাবিল): এটা বাংলা একাডেমিতে হয়। এটাকে একুশে বইমেলা বলা হয়।
Fahim (Friend): Oh! I want to go there. Will you come with me?
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): ওহ! আমি সেখানে যেতে চাই। তুমি কি আমার সাথে আসবে?
Nabil (Myself): Of course. I will go with you. When will we go?
আমি (নাবিল): অবশ্যই। আমি তোমার সাথে যাবো। আমরা কখন যাবো?
Fahim (Friend): Let us go tomorrow afternoon. It will be fun.
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): চলো আমরা আগামীকাল বিকেলে যাই। খুব মজা হবে।
Nabil (Myself): That is a good idea. What will you buy from the fair?
আমি (নাবিল): এটা ভালো ধারণা। তুমি মেলা থেকে কী কিনবে?
Fahim (Friend): I will buy some story books. I love stories very much.
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): আমি কিছু গল্পের বই কিনবো। আমি গল্প খুব ভালোবাসি।
Nabil (Myself): I will buy a story book and a dictionary for myself.
আমি (নাবিল): আমি নিজের জন্য একটি গল্পের বই আর একটি অভিধান কিনবো।
Fahim (Friend): My father will give me money to buy books.
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): আমার বাবা আমাকে বই কেনার জন্য টাকা দেবেন।
Nabil (Myself): My mother will also give me some money for books.
আমি (নাবিল): আমার মাও আমাকে বই কেনার জন্য কিছু টাকা দেবেন।
Fahim (Friend): I heard famous writers come to the book fair.
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): আমি শুনেছি বিখ্যাত লেখকরা বইমেলায় আসেন।
Nabil (Myself): Yes, we can see them and take their autographs.
আমি (নাবিল): হ্যাঁ, আমরা তাদের দেখতে পাবো এবং অটোগ্রাফ নিতে পারবো।
Fahim (Friend): That will be very exciting! I cannot wait to go.
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): এটা খুবই উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ হবে! আমি যাওয়ার জন্য আর অপেক্ষা করতে পারছি না।
Nabil (Myself): We should reach there at 3 pm. Is that okay?
আমি (নাবিল): আমাদের বিকেল ৩টায় সেখানে পৌঁছানো উচিত। এটা কি ঠিক আছে?
Fahim (Friend): Yes, that is okay. I will meet you at your house.
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ, ঠিক আছে। আমি তোমার বাড়িতে এসে দেখা করবো।
Nabil (Myself): Then we will go to the fair together by bus.
আমি (নাবিল): তারপর আমরা একসাথে বাসে করে মেলায় যাবো।
Fahim (Friend): Wonderful! Reading books is a very good habit.
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): চমৎকার! বই পড়া খুব ভালো অভ্যাস।
Nabil (Myself): You are right. Books give us knowledge and joy.
আমি (নাবিল): তুমি ঠিক বলেছো। বই আমাদের জ্ঞান ও আনন্দ দেয়।
Fahim (Friend): Thank you for inviting me. See you tomorrow!
ফাহিম (বন্ধু): আমাকে আমন্ত্রণ জানানোর জন্য ধন্যবাদ। আগামীকাল দেখা হবে!
Book Fair Dialogue for Class 8-9
Rahat (Myself): Hi Sakib, how are you? You look very happy today.
আমি (রাহাত): হাই সাকিব, কেমন আছো? আজ তোমাকে খুব খুশি দেখাচ্ছে।
Sakib (Friend): I am fine, Rahat. Yesterday I visited the book fair, that is why I am happy.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): আমি ভালো আছি, রাহাত। গতকাল আমি বইমেলা ঘুরে এসেছি, এজন্যই আমি খুশি।
Rahat (Myself): Wow! The Ekushey Boi Mela at the Bangla Academy? Tell me about it.
আমি (রাহাত): বাহ! বাংলা একাডেমির একুশে বইমেলা? আমাকে এ সম্পর্কে বলো তো।
Sakib (Friend): Yes! The fairground was decorated beautifully with colourful gates and banners.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ! মেলা প্রাঙ্গণ রঙিন গেট ও ব্যানার দিয়ে সুন্দরভাবে সাজানো হয়েছিল।
Rahat (Myself): How many stalls were there? What kinds of books did you see?
আমি (রাহাত): সেখানে কতগুলো স্টল ছিল? তুমি কী কী ধরনের বই দেখলে?
Sakib (Friend): There were hundreds of stalls arranged in rows. I saw novels, story books, science books, history books, and books for children.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): সারি সারি সাজানো শত শত স্টল ছিল। আমি উপন্যাস, গল্পের বই, বিজ্ঞানের বই, ইতিহাসের বই আর শিশুদের বই দেখেছি।
Rahat (Myself): That sounds wonderful. Did you buy any books?
আমি (রাহাত): এটা চমৎকার শোনাচ্ছে। তুমি কি কোনো বই কিনেছো?
Sakib (Friend): Yes, I bought three books — a novel, a book of poems, and an English grammar book.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ, আমি তিনটি বই কিনেছি — একটি উপন্যাস, একটি কবিতার বই আর একটি ইংরেজি ব্যাকরণের বই।
Rahat (Myself): Great choice! How much did they cost?
আমি (রাহাত): দারুণ পছন্দ! সেগুলোর দাম কত পড়লো?
Sakib (Friend): They cost five hundred taka in total. Many stalls were giving discounts.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): মোট পাঁচশো টাকা পড়েছে। অনেক স্টলে ছাড় দিচ্ছিল।
Rahat (Myself): Did you meet any famous writer there?
আমি (রাহাত): তুমি কি সেখানে কোনো বিখ্যাত লেখকের সাথে দেখা করেছো?
Sakib (Friend): Yes, I met a famous novelist. He signed my book and talked with the readers.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ, আমি একজন বিখ্যাত ঔপন্যাসিকের সাথে দেখা করেছি। তিনি আমার বইয়ে স্বাক্ষর করেছেন এবং পাঠকদের সাথে কথা বলেছেন।
Rahat (Myself): That must have been an unforgettable moment for you.
আমি (রাহাত): এটা তোমার জন্য অবিস্মরণীয় মুহূর্ত হয়ে থাকবে।
Sakib (Friend): It truly was. There was also a cultural programme with songs and poetry in the evening.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): সত্যিই তাই ছিল। সন্ধ্যায় গান ও কবিতা নিয়ে একটি সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানও ছিল।
Rahat (Myself): I have never been to the book fair. I feel sad now.
আমি (রাহাত): আমি কখনো বইমেলায় যাইনি। এখন আমার খারাপ লাগছে।
Sakib (Friend): Do not be sad. The fair will continue for a few more days. Let us go together.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): মন খারাপ কোরো না। মেলা আরও কয়েকদিন চলবে। চলো আমরা একসাথে যাই।
Rahat (Myself): Really? That would be great! When shall we go?
আমি (রাহাত): সত্যি? এটা দারুণ হবে! আমরা কখন যাবো?
Sakib (Friend): Let us go this Friday after lunch. We can spend the whole afternoon there.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): চলো এই শুক্রবার দুপুরের খাবারের পর যাই। আমরা সেখানে পুরো বিকেলটা কাটাতে পারবো।
Rahat (Myself): Perfect. I will bring enough money to buy some good books.
আমি (রাহাত): পারফেক্ট। ভালো কিছু বই কেনার জন্য আমি যথেষ্ট টাকা নিয়ে যাবো।
Sakib (Friend): Good. Buying books is better than wasting money on useless things.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): ভালো। অপ্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসে টাকা নষ্ট করার চেয়ে বই কেনা ভালো।
Rahat (Myself): You are absolutely right. A book fair is a storehouse of knowledge.
আমি (রাহাত): তুমি একদম ঠিক বলেছো। বইমেলা জ্ঞানের ভান্ডার।
Sakib (Friend): Yes. Every student should visit the book fair at least once a year.
সাকিব (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ। প্রত্যেক শিক্ষার্থীর বছরে অন্তত একবার বইমেলা ঘোরা উচিত।
Rahat (Myself): Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I am very excited now.
আমি (রাহাত): তোমার অভিজ্ঞতা আমার সাথে ভাগ করে নেওয়ার জন্য ধন্যবাদ। আমি এখন খুব উত্তেজিত।
Sakib (Friend): You are most welcome. See you on Friday. Goodbye!
সাকিব (বন্ধু): তোমাকেও স্বাগতম। শুক্রবার দেখা হবে। বিদায়!
Book Fair Dialogue for SSC
Arif (Myself): Hello Mehedi, how are you? It has been a long time since we met.
আমি (আরিফ): হ্যালো মেহেদি, কেমন আছো? অনেকদিন পর তোমার সাথে দেখা হলো।
Mehedi (Friend): I am fine, Arif. Actually, I went to the Ekushey Boi Mela last week. It was amazing!
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): আমি ভালো আছি, আরিফ। আসলে, গত সপ্তাহে আমি একুশে বইমেলায় গিয়েছিলাম। এটা অসাধারণ ছিল!
Arif (Myself): Lucky you! I could not go this year because of my examination. Tell me everything about it.
আমি (আরিফ): তুমি ভাগ্যবান! পরীক্ষার কারণে আমি এ বছর যেতে পারিনি। আমাকে সবকিছু বলো তো।
Mehedi (Friend): The whole Bangla Academy premises was full of life. Thousands of people — students, teachers, writers, and families — were moving from stall to stall.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): পুরো বাংলা একাডেমি প্রাঙ্গণ প্রাণবন্ত ছিল। হাজার হাজার মানুষ — ছাত্র, শিক্ষক, লেখক আর পরিবার — এক স্টল থেকে অন্য স্টলে ঘুরছিল।
Arif (Myself): It is the biggest book fair in our country, is it not? It started in memory of the Language Movement martyrs.
আমি (আরিফ): এটা আমাদের দেশের সবচেয়ে বড় বইমেলা, তাই না? ভাষা আন্দোলনের শহীদদের স্মরণে এটা শুরু হয়েছিল।
Mehedi (Friend): Exactly! It is held every February, and it connects our love for books with our love for the mother language.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): ঠিক! এটা প্রতি ফেব্রুয়ারিতে হয়, আর এটা বইয়ের প্রতি ভালোবাসাকে মাতৃভাষার প্রতি ভালোবাসার সাথে যুক্ত করে।
Arif (Myself): That is the beauty of this fair. It is not just a market of books; it is a festival of our culture.
আমি (আরিফ): এটাই এই মেলার সৌন্দর্য। এটা শুধু বইয়ের বাজার নয়; এটা আমাদের সংস্কৃতির উৎসব।
Mehedi (Friend): You have said it very well. What kind of books did you want me to look for?
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): তুমি খুব সুন্দর বলেছো। তুমি আমাকে কী ধরনের বই খুঁজতে বলেছিলে?
Arif (Myself): I was looking for some classic novels and a good English dictionary. Did you find any?
আমি (আরিফ): আমি কিছু ধ্রুপদী উপন্যাস আর একটি ভালো ইংরেজি অভিধান খুঁজছিলাম। তুমি কি পেয়েছো?
Mehedi (Friend): I found a beautiful collection of short stories for you. I bought it as a gift for your birthday.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): তোমার জন্য আমি ছোটগল্পের একটি সুন্দর সংকলন পেয়েছি। তোমার জন্মদিনের উপহার হিসেবে কিনেছি।
Arif (Myself): Oh, that is so kind of you! A book is the best gift for a student, I think.
আমি (আরিফ): ওহ, তুমি কত ভালো! আমার মনে হয়, একজন শিক্ষার্থীর জন্য বই-ই সেরা উপহার।
Mehedi (Friend): I agree completely. A book never loses its value, and it stays with us forever.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): আমি পুরোপুরি একমত। বই কখনো তার মূল্য হারায় না, আর এটা চিরকাল আমাদের সাথে থাকে।
Arif (Myself): Which famous writers did you see at the fair?
আমি (আরিফ): তুমি মেলায় কোন কোন বিখ্যাত লেখককে দেখেছো?
Mehedi (Friend): I saw several famous writers and poets. Many of them were signing books and talking with young readers.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): আমি বেশ কয়েকজন বিখ্যাত লেখক ও কবিকে দেখেছি। তাদের অনেকেই বইয়ে স্বাক্ষর করছিলেন এবং তরুণ পাঠকদের সাথে কথা বলছিলেন।
Arif (Myself): Meeting a favourite writer face to face must inspire a young reader deeply.
আমি (আরিফ): প্রিয় লেখকের সাথে সরাসরি দেখা হওয়া একজন তরুণ পাঠককে গভীরভাবে অনুপ্রাণিত করে।
Mehedi (Friend): Truly. I also attended a seminar on the importance of reading in building a knowledgeable nation.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): সত্যিই। আমি জ্ঞানী জাতি গঠনে পড়ার গুরুত্ব নিয়ে একটি সেমিনারেও অংশ নিয়েছিলাম।
Arif (Myself): That sounds very meaningful. Reading habits are decreasing among students because of mobile phones.
আমি (আরিফ): এটা খুব অর্থবহ শোনাচ্ছে। মোবাইল ফোনের কারণে শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে পড়ার অভ্যাস কমে যাচ্ছে।
Mehedi (Friend): Sadly true. That is why book fairs are more important now than ever before. They bring people back to books.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): দুঃখজনকভাবে সত্য। এজন্যই বইমেলা এখন আগের চেয়ে বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এটা মানুষকে আবার বইয়ের কাছে ফিরিয়ে আনে।
Arif (Myself): The fair also helps new writers to publish their books and reach readers, does it not?
আমি (আরিফ): মেলা নতুন লেখকদের বই প্রকাশ করে পাঠকের কাছে পৌঁছাতেও সাহায্য করে, তাই না?
Mehedi (Friend): Yes, it gives new writers a platform, and publishers discover fresh talent there every year.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ, এটা নতুন লেখকদের একটি মঞ্চ দেয়, আর প্রকাশকরা প্রতি বছর সেখানে নতুন প্রতিভা খুঁজে পান।
Arif (Myself): I also heard that books are sold at a discount during the fair. That helps poor students too.
আমি (আরিফ): আমি আরও শুনেছি মেলা চলাকালীন বই ছাড়ে বিক্রি হয়। এটা গরিব শিক্ষার্থীদেরও সাহায্য করে।
Mehedi (Friend): Correct. Many stalls offer 25 to 30 percent discount, so students can buy more books with less money.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): ঠিক। অনেক স্টল ২৫ থেকে ৩০ শতাংশ ছাড় দেয়, ফলে শিক্ষার্থীরা কম টাকায় বেশি বই কিনতে পারে।
Arif (Myself): Next year I will definitely visit the fair with you. We will spend the whole day there.
আমি (আরিফ): আগামী বছর আমি অবশ্যই তোমার সাথে মেলায় যাবো। আমরা সেখানে সারাদিন কাটাবো।
Mehedi (Friend): Done! We will make a list of books before going, so we do not miss anything important.
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): ঠিক আছে! যাওয়ার আগে আমরা বইয়ের একটি তালিকা বানাবো, যাতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কিছু বাদ না পড়ে।
Arif (Myself): Excellent plan. Thank you for the gift and for sharing your wonderful experience.
আমি (আরিফ): চমৎকার পরিকল্পনা। উপহার আর তোমার সুন্দর অভিজ্ঞতা ভাগ করে নেওয়ার জন্য ধন্যবাদ।
Mehedi (Friend): You are welcome, my friend. Books are our best friends, after all. Goodbye!
মেহেদি (বন্ধু): স্বাগতম, বন্ধু। বই তো আমাদের সেরা বন্ধু। বিদায়!
Book Fair Dialogue for HSC
Tanvir (Myself): Hello Sabbir! I saw your Facebook post about the Ekushey Boi Mela. It looked fantastic.
আমি (তানভীর): হ্যালো সাব্বির! একুশে বইমেলা নিয়ে তোমার ফেসবুক পোস্ট দেখেছি। এটা দারুণ লেগেছে।
Sabbir (Friend): Thank you, Tanvir! I spent three evenings there this year. It is not just a fair; it is a part of our national life.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): ধন্যবাদ, তানভীর! এ বছর আমি সেখানে তিনটি সন্ধ্যা কাটিয়েছি। এটা শুধু একটা মেলা নয়; এটা আমাদের জাতীয় জীবনের অংশ।
Tanvir (Myself): You are right. The fair grew out of the Language Movement, so February and the book fair are emotionally connected for every Bangladeshi.
আমি (তানভীর): তুমি ঠিক বলেছো। ভাষা আন্দোলন থেকে এই মেলার জন্ম, তাই প্রত্যেক বাঙালির কাছে ফেব্রুয়ারি আর বইমেলা আবেগের সাথে জড়িত।
Sabbir (Friend): Exactly. That is why the fair attracts lakhs of visitors every year — it is a celebration of our language, literature, and identity.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): ঠিক। এজন্যই মেলা প্রতি বছর লাখ লাখ দর্শক আকর্ষণ করে — এটা আমাদের ভাষা, সাহিত্য ও পরিচয়ের উদযাপন।
Tanvir (Myself): But tell me honestly — in this age of smartphones and e-books, do book fairs still matter?
আমি (তানভীর): কিন্তু সত্যি করে বলো তো — স্মার্টফোন আর ই-বুকের এই যুগে বইমেলা কি এখনও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ?
Sabbir (Friend): They matter more than ever. A screen cannot give you the smell of a new book, the joy of browsing stalls, or the chance to meet your favourite author.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): এগুলো আগের চেয়ে বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। একটি স্ক্রিন তোমাকে নতুন বইয়ের গন্ধ, স্টলে স্টলে ঘোরার আনন্দ বা প্রিয় লেখকের সাথে দেখা হওয়ার সুযোগ দিতে পারে না।
Tanvir (Myself): That is a fair point. Online reading is convenient, but it is also full of distractions — notifications, social media, advertisements.
আমি (তানভীর): এটা যুক্তিযুক্ত কথা। অনলাইনে পড়া সুবিধাজনক, কিন্তু এতে বিভ্রান্তিও অনেক — নোটিফিকেশন, সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া, বিজ্ঞাপন।
Sabbir (Friend): Precisely. Studies show that deep reading on paper improves concentration and memory far better than reading on a glowing screen.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): ঠিক তাই। গবেষণায় দেখা গেছে, কাগজে গভীরভাবে পড়া জ্বলজ্বলে স্ক্রিনে পড়ার চেয়ে মনোযোগ ও স্মৃতিশক্তি অনেক ভালোভাবে বাড়ায়।
Tanvir (Myself): So the book fair is actually fighting against the decline of reading habits among our generation.
আমি (তানভীর): তাহলে বইমেলা আসলে আমাদের প্রজন্মের মধ্যে পড়ার অভ্যাস কমে যাওয়ার বিরুদ্ধে লড়ছে।
Sabbir (Friend): Yes, and it is winning. Every year more young people visit the fair, take selfies with writers, and proudly carry bags full of books home.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ, এবং এটা জিতছে। প্রতি বছর আরও তরুণ মেলায় আসে, লেখকদের সাথে সেলফি তোলে, আর গর্বের সাথে বইভর্তি ব্যাগ নিয়ে বাড়ি ফেরে।
Tanvir (Myself): Social media actually helps the fair now — writers promote their new books online, and readers rush to the stalls.
আমি (তানভীর): সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া এখন আসলে মেলাকে সাহায্য করে — লেখকরা অনলাইনে তাদের নতুন বইয়ের প্রচার করেন, আর পাঠকরা স্টলে ছুটে যান।
Sabbir (Friend): A perfect combination of tradition and technology. The fair also keeps our publishing industry alive and growing.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): ঐতিহ্য ও প্রযুক্তির নিখুঁত সমন্বয়। মেলা আমাদের প্রকাশনা শিল্পকেও বাঁচিয়ে রাখে এবং বাড়িয়ে তোলে।
Tanvir (Myself): True. Hundreds of publishers, big and small, depend on the February fair for a large part of their yearly sales.
আমি (তানভীর): সত্যি। বড়-ছোট শত শত প্রকাশক তাদের বার্ষিক বিক্রির বড় অংশের জন্য ফেব্রুয়ারির মেলার ওপর নির্ভর করেন।
Sabbir (Friend): And it is the biggest launching platform for new writers. Many famous authors of today were first discovered at this very fair.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): আর এটা নতুন লেখকদের সবচেয়ে বড় আত্মপ্রকাশের মঞ্চ। আজকের অনেক বিখ্যাত লেখক এই মেলাতেই প্রথম আবিষ্কৃত হয়েছিলেন।
Tanvir (Myself): I also noticed the cultural side — poetry recitation, discussions, and seminars happen every evening at the fair.
আমি (তানভীর): আমি সাংস্কৃতিক দিকটাও লক্ষ্য করেছি — মেলায় প্রতি সন্ধ্যায় কবিতা আবৃত্তি, আলোচনা ও সেমিনার হয়।
Sabbir (Friend): Yes, the fair is a meeting place of minds. Readers, writers, publishers, and thinkers all gather in one place.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): হ্যাঁ, মেলা মনের মিলনস্থল। পাঠক, লেখক, প্রকাশক আর চিন্তাবিদ — সবাই এক জায়গায় জড়ো হন।
Tanvir (Myself): As students, what role can we play in promoting reading habits in our society?
আমি (তানভীর): শিক্ষার্থী হিসেবে সমাজে পড়ার অভ্যাস প্রচারে আমরা কী ভূমিকা রাখতে পারি?
Sabbir (Friend): We can start small — gift books to friends on birthdays, start a reading circle in our college, and share good books on social media.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): আমরা ছোট থেকে শুরু করতে পারি — জন্মদিনে বন্ধুদের বই উপহার দিই, কলেজে একটি পাঠচক্র শুরু করি, আর সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় ভালো বই শেয়ার করি।
Tanvir (Myself): Wonderful ideas! A small reading circle in our college could inspire many students to read regularly.
আমি (তানভীর): চমৎকার ধারণা! আমাদের কলেজে একটি ছোট পাঠচক্র অনেক শিক্ষার্থীকে নিয়মিত পড়তে অনুপ্রাণিত করতে পারে।
Sabbir (Friend): Exactly. If each of us makes one friend a reader, the whole nation will slowly become a nation of readers.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): ঠিক। আমরা প্রত্যেকে যদি একজন বন্ধুকে পাঠক বানাই, তাহলে ধীরে ধীরে পুরো জাতি পাঠকের জাতিতে পরিণত হবে।
Tanvir (Myself): Next February, let us visit the fair together and buy books for our whole reading circle.
আমি (তানভীর): আগামী ফেব্রুয়ারিতে চলো আমরা একসাথে মেলায় যাই এবং আমাদের পুরো পাঠচক্রের জন্য বই কিনি।
Sabbir (Friend): It is a promise! The book fair is not just an event — it is where our love for books begins again every year.
সাব্বির (বন্ধু): এটা প্রতিশ্রুতি! বইমেলা শুধু একটা অনুষ্ঠান নয় — এখানেই প্রতি বছর বইয়ের প্রতি আমাদের ভালোবাসা নতুন করে শুরু হয়।
Tanvir (Myself): Beautifully said. Thank you for this meaningful discussion, Sabbir.
আমি (তানভীর): খুব সুন্দর বলেছো। এই অর্থবহ আলোচনার জন্য ধন্যবাদ, সাব্বির।

Book Fair Dialogue Writing Tips
Always begin your dialogue with a friendly greeting like "Good morning" or "Hello" — a dialogue without a greeting looks incomplete to the examiner.
Give your speakers clear names or roles, such as "Myself" and "Friend", so the examiner can easily follow who is speaking.
Keep the conversation natural, like two real friends talking — avoid writing it as a boring list of questions and answers.
Write simple and correct sentences for junior classes, and use richer vocabulary and longer sentences for SSC and HSC.
Include real details about the Ekushey Boi Mela — the Bangla Academy, February, book stalls, discounts, famous writers — because real details make your dialogue lively and believable.
End the dialogue with a natural closing, such as thanking your friend or saying goodbye — never stop the conversation suddenly in the middle.
Check your grammar carefully: use the correct tense for past visits ("I visited the fair") and future plans ("We will go tomorrow").
Learn and use 5 to 6 good linking expressions like "by the way", "in fact", "that is why", and "after all" to make your dialogue sound mature.
Practise writing the dialogue within 12 to 15 minutes with a watch in front of you, because time management is very important in the examination hall.
Memorise the Bangla meaning of each English sentence you write, so that you can also answer viva questions if your teacher asks you about the dialogue.

Book Fair Dialogue FAQ
How do I write a book fair dialogue for Class 6?
For Class 6, write a book fair dialogue using very short and simple sentences that you can easily remember. Start with a greeting between two friends, then let one friend invite the other to the book fair. Use easy words like "go", "buy", "book", "happy", and "tomorrow". Keep the dialogue between 15 and 20 exchanges — one exchange means one turn of speaking. Mention simple things: where the fair is held, what books you will buy, and who will give you the money. End with a friendly goodbye. Avoid difficult words and long sentences completely, because the examiner checks whether a Class 6 student can write simple, correct English, not difficult English. Read the Class 6-7 dialogue in this post slowly, understand the Bangla meaning of every line, and then try to write it from memory in your own words.
What should a book fair dialogue for Class 7 include?
A Class 7 book fair dialogue should include a warm greeting, a plan to visit the fair together, and simple descriptions of what you expect to see there. You should mention the name of the fair — the Ekushey Boi Mela — and where it is held, the Bangla Academy. Add small details that make the conversation interesting: the colourful stalls, story books you want to buy, and the famous writers who visit the fair. You can also add one or two feelings, like excitement about going or happiness about buying books. Keep the sentences short and the grammar simple, but try to use a few new words like "exciting", "wonderful", or "famous". A proper ending with thanks and goodbye is a must. Around 18 to 22 exchanges is the ideal length for Class 7.
How long should a book fair dialogue for Class 8 be?
A book fair dialogue for Class 8 should be around 22 to 26 exchanges long. At this level, the examiner expects more than just simple sentences — your dialogue should describe real experiences, such as what you saw at the fair, how many stalls there were, what kinds of books were available, and what you bought. Use connecting words like "because", "so", "then", and "also" to join your ideas smoothly. You can include prices, discounts, meeting a writer, and cultural programmes to make the dialogue rich. The conversation should still feel like two friends talking, not like a formal essay. Practise finishing it within 12 to 15 minutes, because writing a longer dialogue slowly in the exam hall will cost you marks in other questions.
How do I write a book fair dialogue for SSC?
For SSC, your book fair dialogue must show deeper thinking, not just simple descriptions. Start with a natural greeting, then discuss meaningful points: the history of the Ekushey Boi Mela and its connection with the Language Movement, the importance of book fairs in building reading habits, famous writers you saw, and buying books as gifts for friends. Use varied sentence structures — some short, some long — and correct tense throughout. Aim for 26 to 30 exchanges. Examiners at SSC level check your vocabulary, so use words like "culture", "inspire", "knowledgeable", and "unforgettable" correctly. A thoughtful closing line, such as "Books are our best friends", leaves a good final impression. Always revise your dialogue once for spelling and grammar mistakes before submitting the script.
How do I write a book fair dialogue for HSC?
For HSC, a book fair dialogue should read like a mature discussion between two educated friends. Go beyond describing the fair — discuss serious ideas such as the cultural role of Ekushey Boi Mela in our national life, book fairs versus online reading, the decline of reading habits because of smartphones, and how students can promote reading in society. Use advanced vocabulary and complex sentences naturally, not forcefully. Aim for 28 to 32 exchanges with a clear flow: opening, discussion of 3 to 4 main ideas, and a meaningful conclusion. Examiners reward original thinking, so add your own opinions instead of copying memorised lines. End with a strong closing thought, like the role of readers in building the nation. A well-structured HSC dialogue can easily earn full marks.
What is a dialogue between two friends about a book fair?
A dialogue between two friends about a book fair is a written conversation in which two friends talk to each other about visiting, experiencing, or planning to visit a book fair. It usually begins with a greeting, then one friend shares news or an invitation about the fair, and both friends exchange their thoughts, feelings, plans, and experiences. Common topics inside the dialogue include the Ekushey Boi Mela at the Bangla Academy, the colourful stalls, the books they bought, the discounts they got, the famous writers they met, and the importance of reading books. It ends with a friendly closing like thanks or goodbye. In Bangladesh, this is a very common dialogue-writing item in English second-paper examinations from Class 6 to HSC, and students are expected to write it in their own natural language.
How do I start a book fair dialogue?
Start a book fair dialogue with a warm, natural greeting between the two friends — for example, "Good morning, Rahim! How are you?" followed by the reply. Then introduce the topic smoothly in the second or third exchange, such as "Have you heard about the book fair?" or "Yesterday I visited the Ekushey Boi Mela. It was amazing!" Never jump straight into the topic without greeting, because a dialogue must feel like a real conversation. After the greeting and the topic introduction, let the conversation grow naturally with questions, answers, feelings, and opinions. A good opening sets the tone for the whole dialogue, so keep it friendly and simple. If you memorise two or three good opening styles, you can start any dialogue confidently in the examination hall.
