In 1927, at the age of seven, Sheikh Mujib started his education at Gimadanga Primary School. At the age of nine, in 1929, he was admitted to gopalganj public school in the third grade. Due to his father's transfer, he was admitted to the fourth grade in Madaripur Islamia School in 1931 and studied there till 1934. ^[18] In 1934, he was diagnosed with a complex disease calledberiberiand hisheartbecame weak. In 1936, he was diagnosed withglaucomain his eye and had to undergo surgery, and it took a long time to fully recover from it. For this reason, he could not continue schooling for four years from 1934 to 1938. After recovering in 1938, he was admitted to the seventh grade at Mathuranath Institute Mission School in Gopalganj. At that time, his tutor was an activist of the anti-British movement and a person named Kazi Abdul Hamid (Hamid Master), who spent many years in jail. ^[19] Later, he passed matriculation from Gopalganj Missionary School in 1942. ^[18]

In 1944, Sheikh Mujib received an IA fromIslamia College (now Maulana Azad College) in Kolkata. And in 1947, he received a bachelor's degree in history and political science. ^[20] The college, affiliated to the University of Calcutta, was well-knownat that time. While studying at Islamia College, he lived in room 24of baker's hostel. In 1998, theGovernment of West Bengalmerged rooms 23 and 24 to form the "Bangabandhu Memorial Room" in his honour. ^[21] On 23 February 2011, his bustwas installedin front of the room. ^{[21] After the} partition of India, he enrolled in lawat The University of Dhaka.
