The proposed new pay scale for government employees is at the final stage and may be announced at any time, prime minister’s principal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar said on Sunday.

‘The pay scale is under consideration and the government is committed to it. We will implement it. It is at the final stage. The pay scale may be announced at any time,’ he said while responding to questions from journalists at the Secretariat.

Asked about the rising prices of essentials in the market, Abdus Sattar acknowledged that there were some problems and said the government was working to address them.

He attributed some of the difficulties to disruptions in the production chain caused by fuel and electricity shortages.

‘You may have noticed that the production chain has perhaps been disrupted somewhat due to fuel and electricity. It will be resolved, InshaAllah,’ he added.
