The Egyptian Pyramids
The Egyptian pyramids are ancient stone tombs built for kings over 4,500 years ago. Located near the Nile River, the most famous site is the Giza Necropolis outside Cairo, featuring the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, alongside the Great Sphinx.
The Main Pyramids of Giza

Great Pyramid (Khufu)
Built around 2560 BCE; it was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years.

Pyramid of Khafre
Appears taller because it is built on higher ground; retains some of its original smooth outer limestone casing at the top.

Pyramid of Menkaure
The smallest of the three main structures, built with a base of granite and upper layers of limestone.

The Great Sphinx
A massive limestone statue with a lion's body and a human head, guarding the east side of the complex.
