May 1st,International Workers Day,is observed as May Day.To commermorate the historic struggle of working people throughout the world the day is observed. From the beginning of the Industrial Revolution people in factories have worked very long shifts lasting up to fourteen or even more hours a day.In the 1880 a new movement calling for an eight hours day inspired both Labour Unions and unorganised workers. The workers fought for some rights, a minimum wage,safety laws and the guarantee of eight hour workday.To establish  these rights they launched a concerted movement against the prevalent law and law enforcing and enacting agencies. As a result on May 3,1889,police fired into a crowd of strikers at the McComick Harvest Machine Company, Chicago, killing at least one stricker, seriously wounding five or six others and injuring an undetermined number.All these are infeasible to be forgettable and all these have determined better working conditions, better pay and better lives for today's workers and this is the importance of the day.May 1st, is now recognised in most countries of the world.
